Webasto Roof Systems Inc. is currently recruiting for an Tooling Technician located at their Detroit Plant in Plymouth, MI.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Repair and follow strict preventive maintenance schedule of production tooling.
  • Maintain a strict and prioritized tooling repair schedule that ensures repairs and tool preparation are finished ahead for the production and customers demand schedules.
  • Work within the budgetary allocations.
  • Provide Technical assistance to production team – management team and assist in problem solving as assigned.
  • Recommends tooling repairs when tools are not performing to Part Quality Standards and / or Production Yield Standards.
  • Assist production – die setters and maintenance team to maintain mold storage inventory and movement.
  • Able to run basic machine shop equipment; Bridgeport, lathe, etc.
  • Able to read measurement equipment; Calipers, micrometers
  • Work with Tooling Engineer with tooling upgrades and trials.
  • Work safely and follow all OSHA (lock out – tag out) and all other OSHA / State / Federal / Municipal Rules and Regulations.
  • Behave and Perform under all POF specific rules related to providing a safe work place for yourself and all other employees impacted by your daily activities
  • Behave and perform under all the POF Company handbook rules and regulations related to code of conduct.
  • Responsible to perform “On the Job” tool repair and tool maintenance training to new hires when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. 
  • Ability to analyze data – tool conditions and provide recommendations.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to strictly adhere to Safety and Quality requirements.
  • Own hand tools that will facilitate the timely execution of job duties
  • A proven record of directly performing tool repairs in a plastic injection-molding environment.
  • Must have hands on knowledge of lathes, drill presses, milling, welding and polishing.
  • Ability to read blue prints.
  • Basic Electrical and Hydraulic knowledge.
  • Basic Knowledge of Hot runner systems.
