Webasto Roof Systems Inc. is currently recruiting for a Project Quality Engineer located at their plant in Plymouth, MI.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs all Customer Quality responsibilities according to the Webasto Product Evolution Process from Concept through the Launch Phase
  • Participates in feasibility reviews, makes feasibility assessment based on customer specific requirements and specifications
  • Cascades Customer Specific Quality requirements to team to ensure compliance
  • Participates in Lessons Learned reviews;  reviews previous warranty topics to prevent issue recurrence in new projects; develops Warranty cost per unit prediction 
  • Manages Customer APQP plan including internal team follow up and report out to customer as per customer expectations
  • Develops prototype control plan; Ensures product conformance of all internal and customer prototype builds
  • Develops Overall Quality plan including the creation of Control Plans, Quality assurance check sheets, and installation of Safe Launch plans and product audits
  • Along with Engineering team member, establishes and recommends Requalification plan to customer
  • Defines Quality gauge measurement requirements, responsible for gauge construction and verification (MSA) of Quality Gages in accordance with project timeline
  • Tracks Quality key performance indicators including PIST, control plan adherence, safe launch results.
  • Develops and manages the action plans to close gaps and meet project targets
  • Develops and manages recovery plans where needed to meet customer capability requirements. 
  • Ensures Intercompany and Make parts meet OTS requirements for pre-series builds and also verifies quality level of purchased parts
  • Compiles and submits customer PPAP; Manages internal ICO PPAP
  • Responsible for integrating the Plant Quality Assurance practices, confirming and hand over of Quality responsibility and documentation to plant
  • Leads team on resolution of Quality issues using 8D problem solving tools
  • Implements containment actions and permanent corrective actions.   


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field
  • 5+ years Automotive Quality related experience
  • Knowledgeable of the following: Metrology, Coordinate Measuring Machines, MSA, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Geometric Tolerance, Body Grid Lines and Blueprint reading
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to perform process capability and machine capability studies
  • Knowledge of Class 'A' surface requirements preferred
  • Experience with customer specific requirements
