Webasto is seeking highly competent, reliable and growth-oriented candidates that are familiar with HR processes and Labor Relations to join our team as a Human Resources Generalist (Business Partner)/Labor Relations at our manufacturing facility in Plymouth, MI.   In this role you will be responsible for a variety of HR Generalist disciplines, including labor relations, performance and talent management, HR project initiatives, hiring and onboarding, and training.

 

 

What you will do – Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Act as consultant between HR function and business functions
  • Administration of collective bargaining agreement and related responsibilities
  • Maintain active involvement and interaction with local union representatives and departmental management to help foster a positive labor/management relationship
  • Consult on union matters including disciplinary action requests, investigates and settles grievances, including primary research and answering union information requests, grievance meetings and assist with arbitrations – compile all information requested
  • Investigate, assist, draft, and represent the company’s position in various proceedings and agency filings and/or other labor negotiations
  • Support in preparation for and participate in collective bargaining process
  • Ability to interpret and apply the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Company policies and regulations
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with union representatives, advising and counseling management for union-related matters
  • HR consulting and coaching, e.g. in people and cultural issues, in technical and legal aspects of the employment including hiring, termination, performance management and rewards
  • Talent management/staffing and recruitment of colleagues on talent initiatives
  • Recruit, interview, and participate in the hiring and selection process; supports onboarding; 
  • Be available to answer/respond to labor relations questions/issues as they arise
  • Recommend, develop, and implement employee relations practices to foster a positive employer-employee relationship and support the overall effectiveness of the organization

 

The minimum requirements you will need

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field; Minimum 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have 3 or more years of Labor Relations experience, specifically including grievance handling
  • Experience conducting investigations, managing, and resolving conflicts
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion
  • Strong knowledge of labor law
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills; Organizational abilities to manage records and data; Ability to work with limited supervision
