Webasto Roof Systems Inc. is currently recruiting for an Autonomous Production Unit Supervisor at their Detroit Plant in Plymouth, MI.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on Leadership of high performance, shift-based group leaders, and area teams within a crew to achieve output, delivery, and quality targets ensuring the highest standards of safety, 5S, well-being, and sufficient headcount levels. 
  • Manage the area team's attendance, training, and recruitment needs and ensure data accuracy in MES and related systems
  • Monitor/report production output status, ensure effective and timely information flow in line with process, and respond proactively to KPI and volume trends to safeguard high levels of efficiency. 

  • Coach Group Leaders in solving disruptions to Takt by driving timely, cross-functional problem-solving in line with escalation rules. 

  • Conduct performance evaluations/development planning for team members with the support of Group Leaders in line with company processes, ensuring training plans are implemented and effective. 

  • Support the plant leadership team to identify and initiate continuous improvement as part of a cross-functional team to achieve, maintain or improve performance in the area. 

  • Identifies concerns within the business and presents solutions in line with business requirements

  • Proactively support risk assessments in the area, ensuring unsafe practices and equipment are identified and eliminated. 

  • Strict time management ethos eliminating loss of time and production to the business

  • Takes a pragmatic approach to directing, driving and resolving items raised within the Core Team

  • Stands firm on the decisions that are made and understands the need and requirements behind them

  • Adopts, inspires and motivates a ‘right first time’ approach within their teams

  • Delivers performance targets in a timely manner to first line management

  • Ensuring information from the actions boards are up to date and cascaded to the relevant departments




  • +3 strong management experience at OEM or Tier 1 company
  • Outstanding communication skills and instrumental in moving key information throughout the business
  • Previous experience of managing an automated production line
  • Exceptional people management skills to deliver performance and business objectives
  • Exceptional delivery of Health & Safety along with IATF 16949 requirements
  • Strong mentoring qualities to develop and encourage leadership skills of the Group Leader
  • Ownership of a specific customer and product from raw material to the overall finish product
  • Understands customer demand and implements processes to deliver scheduled commitments
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to articulate in large groups
  • Ability to identify concerns, has the capacity to complete a full and thorough investigation process
  • Demonstrates strong concern resolution skills (QRQC)
  • Leads their Core Team to deliver exceptional quality and performance
  • Manages performance within their Core team and successfully implements necessary solutions
  • Good Knowledge of SAP and MES systems
  • Excellent PC and analytical skills
