Webasto is seeking highly motivated candidates that have experience ensuring excellent technical performance and optimum availability of production equipment to join our team as a ME Engineer Automation & Design at our facility in New Hudson, MI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programming, maintenance, and repairs of production equipment and related control units in line with maintenance plans to ensure constant availability of the technical systems
  • Writing programs/programming of PLC controls and for test benches
  • Error analysis and correction in case of breakdowns
  • Ensuring constant availability of the system and support continuous improvement and process optimization of machines, tools, equipment, and processes
  • Application of simulation tools (e.g. plant and process simulator)
  • Virtual and physical commissioning of relevant manufacturing equipment
  • Support the continuous improvement of machines, tools, equipment, and processes, in line with Lean Principles including Error Proofing/Poke Yoke

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another relevant field
  • Substantial experience in PLC Programming (Siemens preferred)
  • Ability to read and write logic in SCL, STL, and Sequence Graph is preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience working in a fast-paced, automotive lean manufacturing environment
  • Basic knowledge of working with automotive ME processes and tools, and Lean Principles
  • Technical understanding of machine parts and drawings, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems
  • Understanding of and ability to apply Lean problem solving tools
  • Knowledge of integrated and automated equipment
  • Knowledge of MES and SAP
  • Working as a member of cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of process optimization techniques
  • Working knowledge of relevant HSE and workplace safety requirements and hold relevant certifications
  • Shift schedule is for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday PM
