Systems Engineer - Battery

Webasto is looking for:

Position Summary:

System integration of battery systems into electric on- and off highway vehicles. Main focus is busses, heavy and medium duty trucks, off highway machines and military vehicle.

The systems will be based on standard components, developed by Webasto’s HQ.

Tasks include:  Understand, define and summarize customer requirements. Develop generic and customer specific application solutions. Support system installation at customer site. System testing. Documentation of system (Drawings, BOMs, schematics, reports etc.)

Technical product responsibility for Webasto’s standard batteries and supporting components in NA.

Responsibility could be increased to perform similar duties in other product areas.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Interact with customers by developing application solutions for specific vehicles.

 

Interact extensively with Webasto HQ in Germany and US to develop application solutions. 

 

Work with customers to assess their application design requirements.  Define the specifications, products and accessories to fulfill the agreed requirements.

 

Based on agreed customer requirements, develop the scope of application delivery.

 

Prepare all documentation necessary for production as well as customer support. (Drawings, BOM, schematics, installation instructions etc.)

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • BSME, Mechanical Engineering or BSEE Electrical Engineer

Major: Automotive, Control Engineering, Thermodynamics, Bus communication systems (CAN-, LIN-Bus)

  • Familiarity with EV architecture and EV batteries
  • Familiarity with controlling EV batteries
  • MS Office  (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point)
  • 5 years’ experience in the EV industry as System / Applications Engineer
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD systems (CATIA or similar)
  •  

 

Knowledge and proficiency of:

 

  • Engineering and design of EV systems and components.
  • Working knowledge EV batteries.
  • Working knowledge of electronic controls and operating systems.
  • Working knowledge EV battery thermodynamics,
  • Customer Interface; 
  • Capable of direct customer interface and support to specify EV battery systems with rudimentary inputs from the customer.
  • Prototype installation
  • Follow ISO14001/9001, IATF/TS16949 processes, as required.
