Key Account Manager - Battery

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Key Account Manager - Batteries position is responsible for new business acquisition as well as complete account management of WTNA’s battery customers as a key member of a significant growing market segment.  The position will be working internally within the customized solutions business team in Fenton Michigan and collaboratively with Webasto’s colleagues located in Germany and other global locations.

 

The ideal candidate will be highly skilled and motivated to satisfy customers, obtain new programs and sales, and significantly grow market share. Must be a self-starter, strategically minded and have demonstrated experience and success in growing a portfolio of business. Engineering / technical background and/or supervision experience is a plus to fulfill current and future career opportunities. Experience with high voltage products and systems (powertrains) a plus. Candidate should have functional knowledge of vehicle systems and components.

 

This person must be well organized, flexible and skillful to enjoy the challenges of winning new business programs. Working with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a strong sense for customer obsession/satisfaction and consultative selling are also essential. Must prioritize workload and pay attention to detail. This position will need to interact professionally with customers, with fellow team members, and should be a natural at being a positive and polished representative of the company. 

 

Valid passport for International Travel required.

 

Primary Duties

1. Generate new battery acquisitions/sales opportunities
2. Be the primary point of contact to OEM customers/prospects and their key management personnel including Engineering, Purchasing, Development & Testing, Product Planning/Strategy, Manufacturing, Warranty and Supplier Quality Assurance.
3. Responsible for quotation submissions, securing purchase orders, closing open financial issues, price and warranty negotiation, expanding OEM applications and overall business acquisition and growth.
4. Establish and build relationships with decision makers and influencers at all levels - utlizing consultative selling approach.
5. Be the Voice-of-the-Customer - Maintain a reliable understanding of how Webasto’s OEM customers view the company and bring those key messages back to the Webasto team for continuous improvement when needed.

 

Additional requirements

1. Technical Background - Has a proven and demonstrated ability to understand and sell highly technical products to OEM customers. 
2. Functional knowledge of high voltage products, vehicle systems and components (batteries, powertrain and thermal management products preferred).
3. Four (4) Year University degree plus a minimum of five (5) years of OE Account Management (or equivalent) 
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a strong sense for customer satisfaction and consultative selling
5. Proven ability to overcome objections, knowledge of target market/competitive analysis, negotiation skills, conflict resolution, long term business planning, use of customer supplier portals, project planning and strong presentation skills.
