Webasto is seeking highly motivated candidates that have experience ensuring excellent technical performance and optimum availability of production equipment to join our team as a Special Projects Lead (full-time) at our facility in Auburn Hills, MI. Telecommuting permissible; Hybrid- 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a Cross Functional Team in support of designated roles and responsibilities.
  • Establish cost and timing for the introduction of new programs from concept to PSW under the direction of management.
  • Maintain timing plans for new program launches and tracking all tasks for on time completion or required corrective action.
  • Create and maintain, within the cross functional team, the required processes and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for new programs.
  • Create and maintain records of proposed manufacturing processes, including tooling and equipment line-ups and labor under the direction of management.
  • Establish and maintain equipment standards, mistake proofing standards, and functional test standards.
  • Coordinate benchmarking for engineering processes against other world class organizations.
  • Participate with cross functional team in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (“VA/VE”), Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (“DFM/DFA”) workshops and implementing recommendations.
  • Establish process capabilities for proposed processes and maximizing capabilities. Work with current model ME in the purchase of equipment at time of design release.
  • Participate in Six Sigma projects.
  • Facilitate prototype builds. Perform product feasibility reviews and approvals with cross functional team.
  • Prepare cost estimates and quotes.
  • Perform tool and equipment line up, including labor content.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Master’s Degree (or a foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering 
  • At least two (2) years of experience  as a Program Manager or a substantially similar position performing all of the following duties: leading and conducting strategies to reduce scrap and process optimization; leading continuous improvement efforts; monitoring budgets and production timelines; developing procedures and work instructions required to manufacture products efficiently and cost effectively; working for a Tier One automotive supplier with global sales of over $1 billion annually; utilizing APQP, FMEA, MSA, DFM/DFA, SPC, PPAP Core Tools;
  • ISO/TS16949 and Six Sigma Black Belt and Project Management official training certifications.
