Webasto Roof Systems Inc. is currently recruiting for a Lead Electrical Engineer located at their HQ in Auburn Hills, MI.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Translate customer requirements and specifications into overall design strategy and technology
  • Create and maintain program develop timelines
  • Develop robust technical solutions from concept through production
  • Conduct appropriate engineering analysis and select materials 
  • Mark up drawings and work with designers to develop high quality drawings
  • Set direction with vendors and electrical technicians to build prototypes
  • Write test reports that  include conclusions and recommendations
  • Develop functional test plans
  • Maintain open issues list during development; supervise running of development tests
  • Prepare engineering documentation including, but not limited to: DFMEA, DVP&R, Lessons Learned and design assumptions
  • Formally release all product requirements into the Webasto change management system
  • Requirements entered into DOORS
  • Address RTC tickets & Test Incidents
  • Conduct design reviews internally and with customers

  • Ensure electrical MRDs are met on time

  • Establish production feasibility of designs working with vendors, engineers, and plant colleagues

  • Generate and follow-up on cost reductions

  • National and International travel 


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering  
  • 5+ years Product Engineering experience with electrical assemblies
  • 3+ years experience working with OEM customers and leading projects
  • Knowledge of customer specifications and competitive technical solutions
  • Experience with DOORS, RTC or equivalent
  • Experience developing under ASPICE or equivalent
  • Experience with Functional Safety and Cyber Security
  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing methods and basic EMC design
  • Knowledge of basic embedded controller design and programming
  • Knowledgeable of Circuit Analysis, 8D, CAD, DOE, DFMEA, EMC design
