Lead Development Engineer

Webasto Roof Systems, Inc., seeks a Lead Development Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  Domestic and international travel 5%. Duties: Provide technical guidance, engineering direction, and product assistance to customer focused teams of product engineers; apply project management tools with guidance and support from Project Managers; lead engineering testing, product design, engineering specifications and customer requirements; ensure that appropriate engineering analysis and material selection is performed for all product content within the team; review and approve engineering documentation, including but not limited to DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis), DVP&R (Design, Verification, Plan & Report), drawings and design assumptions; ensure that all product requirements are accurately released on time into change management system in order to support all program objectives and customer requirements; act as liaison with customers, suppliers and engineers; support and participate in new business development and acquisition; and ensure that product safety lessons learned are reflected in current product. Minimum education required: Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive Engineering, closely related engineering degree, or foreign equivalent degree. Minimum experience required: 3 years of work experience in a Project, Systems, Product, Mechanical or Lead engineering position with a Tier 1 automotive supplier. Special skills required: Must have 3 years of work experience with each of the following: following DFMEA process in the automotive industry; designing components and assemblies of motor vehicles with CAD; performing DRBFM and FTA in the automotive industry; and customer design and testing specifications as they relate to vehicle assembly design and testing.
