Webasto Roof Systems, Inc., a Tier-1 automotive supplier, seeks a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan to validate product design for automotive roof systems and components.  Duties: use HyperWorks and Abaqus to analyze, define, and execute FEA simulation plans for RFQ, application and serial life phases of automotive roof system and component programs; analyze compatibility of vehicle system design and specifications; analyze cost optimization for product design, manufacturing processes and material selection; evaluate and validate FEA results, and write FEA reports; work with design engineers on product design improvements, and with customer engineering representatives on product specifications; define and negotiate FEA validation plans and statements of work; correlate FEA models to physical test data, and evaluate accuracy of FEA simulations to improve FEA models and optimize FEA validation plans; estimate FEA budget for automotive roof system and component programs; use FE-Safe software to perform durability studies for fatigue life.  Minimum education required:  Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or foreign equivalent degree.  Minimum experience required:  1 year’ experience in a project engineering or FEA engineering position with a Tier-1 automotive supplier.  Special skills:  Must have 1 year’ work experience in each of the following:  use of HyperWorks to build and process durability models; FEA analysis of automotive components and systems; use of Abaqus to simulate elastomer and injection-molded automotive parts; use of explicit code for non-linear analysis of elastomer and injection-molded automotive parts.  Experience may be acquired concurrently.
