FEA Engineer - Charging

Webasto Roof Systems Inc. is currently recruiting for an FEA Engineer located at their Auburn Hills Corporate Office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical leadership and direction to customer focused teams of designers and engineers relative to products design
  • Develop robust technical solutions
  • Conduct appropriate CAE analysis and assist to develop proper design
  • Direct and lead work with outsource CAE support to develop high quality meshed models
  • Perform analysis on new design and product changes as required
  • Set direction for design standards utilizing the CAE tools available
  • Work with the test lab to verify CAE analysis and actual part validation is normalized
  • Write CAE reports to include conclusions, assumptions, and recommendations
  • Establish Design criteria based on CAE analysis and knowledge
  • Support CAE reviews internally and with customers
  • Assist to establish production feasibility of designs working with vendors, engineers, and plant colleagues
  • Generate and follow-up on cost reductions
  • Communicate with international CAE team to help develop CAE strategy for standardization
  • Act as senior level liaison with customers, suppliers and engineers
  • Supports and participates in new business development initiatives

 

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Abaqus and Hypermesh software suites
  • 5+ years experience of CAE engineering for mechanical or electical assemblies
  • 5+ years working with CAE tools in support of automotive customers
  • Knowledge of customer specifications and competitive technical solutions
  • Excellent verbal, technical writing, interpersonal and organizational skills required
  • Knowledge of CAD, DOE, GD&T, DFMEA, ECM, Robust Design, and PTS
  • Hands on experience in solving highly non-linear problems with Abaqus/Explicit Solver and Implicit Dynamics 
  • Must have prior experience of simulating seals and elastomers
  • Knowledge of “Connector Elements and mechanism analysis using ABAQUS” would be an added advantage
  • Experience with charging systems for EV preferred
