Director Legal

You can look forward to these exciting tasks: 

 

  • Provide strategic legal leadership across the Americas, aligning legal initiatives with business goals and global standards.
  • Oversee corporate governance, legal risk management, and regulatory compliance for all regional entities.
  • Advise executive leadership on strategic and day-to-day legal matters, including contracts, disputes, and business operations.
  • Lead negotiation and drafting of complex commercial agreements (e.g., supplier, OEM, M&A, real estate, licensing, and technology).
  • Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks impacting operations, supply chains, and product launches.
  • Manage litigation, arbitration, and claims, with authority to negotiate and approve settlements.
  • Support crisis management and serve as a liaison with global legal teams to ensure cross-border coordination.
  • Lead legal aspects of M&A, corporate governance, and intellectual property protection (including patents and trade secrets).

 

This is what you bring to us:

 

  • Must have : Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, required - Active license to practice law within Michigan
  • Progressive legal experience, including: Automotive manufacturing or Tier 1 
    supplier environment, complex commercial contracting with OEM customers
  • 10+ years In‑house counsel experience within a corporate environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including: managing and developing in‑house legal teams and direct reports
  • Proven ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives
  • Experience managing global legal issues and cross functional stakeholders
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and executive level advisory skills
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
